The ice-breaker to an efficient implementation – WP2 - Standards and Architectures

An effective information flow through the whole value chain is required to secure success of the Indisputable key solution. The communication between companies, IT systems and system components, both at international and national level must be effective and flexible. A state of the art communication solution is required to achieve this. Along with the functionality of the Indisputablekey solution, this will enable new approaches to collaboration, planning and material management between businesses.
SMEs play an important and major role in the value chain. It’s vital that the solutions are affordable also for them. Cost-effective solutions, that are easy and quick to both establish and change, are needed.
A well-defined and open standard for communication is needed to meet the above requirements. A state of the art solution, such as this, will enable companies to work as networked and knowledge-based businesses. This will enhance agility, innovation and value creation. The open standard strategy will also ensure competition between system vendors. This will keep costs down and enhance the market penetration of the Indisputable key solution.

WP2 (Standards and Architectures), Communication standard will examine existing standards with the objective to build on one of them. Some relevant standards are StanForD, papiNet, XMLsaw, ebXML, WoodX and ISO 15000. The specific requirements of Indisputable key are not covered in any previous standard, the project will therefore contribute and enhance the standard decided to adhere to, and build on to create an open environment and to achieve cost-effective communication. WP2 (Standards and Architectures) will define the standard. This includes defining business processes, scenarios, messages and content. The definition of the system architecture and technical description are also done in WP2. The implementation will be done in the other work packages, especially WP6 (Software Modules for Integration). WP2 (Standards and Architectures) will establish a Collaboration Messaging Services for testing and demonstration purpose.
