Explanation
An Information System is the system of persons, data records and activities that process the data and information in a given organisation, including manual processes or automated processes. Commonly the expression Information system is associated with computer based information systems. These can be used in a wide variety of ways in different organisations.
In recent years, information and technology is one important resource available to executives for shaping an organisation. Any organisation has and uses some types of information systems. These may be based on computers, or they can be completely manual information systems. Information systems are one important tool for management of companies and can have different use and functionality depending on the type of industry/business.
Application/Usage in Indisputable KEY
One important target for Indisputable KEY is to ensure access to applications that returns traceability data on some item. This information is to be automatically transmitted between the applications and the information systems. Alternatively the information must be re-keyed into different parts of the information system. The information should ideally be made available to any information system used in Indisputable KEY. By developing and using a communication standard – the data will be transferred seamlessly between applications and information systems. This will also enable further use of the data as they can be exchanged between different information systems and analysed for different purposes.
Traceability applications will publish data which can be subscribed by an information system that will use the data for example to update the inventory.

Information system is a large concept, which is found in a lot of particular domains.
