An electronic message contains data or information that can be sent electronically from one computer to another. What kind of information that can be sent is defined and documented in a communication standard (a kind of a template).
The message can be sent as an attachment to an e-mail, or by software or technology designed for exchange of electronic messages (web services, Microsoft Biztalk Server).
